Getting started
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a low-impact, full-body exercise method that focuses on building strength, flexibility, balance and body awareness. It’s suitable for all fitness levels and is especially loved for improving posture and core strength.
Do I need experience to join a class?
No experience is necessary. We have beginner-friendly classes and our instructors will guide you every step of the way.
Are your classes suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Many of our clients are beginners, and our instructors are experienced in tailoring exercises to your needs and level.
What should I wear to class?
Comfortable, form-fitting activewear that you can move easily in. Grip socks are required for hygiene and safety, and are available to buy at the studio if you don’t have any.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just yourself, a water bottle and your grip socks. We provide all other equipment.
How early should I arrive for my first class?
Please arrive 10 minutes early so we can show you around, go over any health concerns and help you get set up.
Can men attend classes too?
Yes, everyone is welcome at Pilates with April.
Classes and bookings
How do I book a class?
All classes can be booked online through our timetable or the booking app. Bookings are essential to secure your spot.
How many people are in each class?
Our Reformer classes are small, with a maximum of 10 people, so you get plenty of personal attention.
Do you offer private sessions?
Yes, private and duet sessions are available by appointment. Please email us to arrange a time.
How often should I do Pilates?
For best results, we recommend Pilates 2 to 3 times a week, though even once a week has benefits. Consistency is key to improving strength, flexibility and overall fitness.
What are the benefits of Pilates?
Pilates offers improved flexibility, increased muscle strength and tone, better control of your back and limbs, improved stabilisation of your spine and better posture. It also helps with relaxation and stress management.
Pregnancy, injury and health
I’m pregnant or recently postpartum. Can I still attend classes?
Yes. Once you have medical clearance from your doctor (usually after 6 weeks postpartum) you’re welcome to join. We also recommend visiting a pelvic health physiotherapist before returning to exercise.
What should I do if I have an injury?
Consult your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise program. Once you have clearance, let your instructor know about your injury so they can offer modifications and keep you exercising safely.
Memberships and pricing
What memberships do you offer?
We offer the $99 Re-Ignite You intro offer for new clients, The Devoted unlimited membership, weekly memberships, class packs, a Holiday Maker week and casual drop-ins. See all prices on our Memberships page.
How do I pause or cancel my membership?
We require 2 weeks’ notice for any changes. Please email info@pilateswithapril.com.au to request a pause or cancellation.
Pauses: up to 4 weeks per year, with a minimum of 7 days per pause. Cancellations: available only after your minimum commitment period.
Cancellations and waitlists
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 6 hours’ notice if you need to cancel your class. Late cancellations and no-shows will incur a fee or forfeit your class credit. This helps us manage waitlists and offer spots to other clients.
What happens if I’m on the waitlist?
If a spot becomes available, you’ll receive an email or text notification. Please confirm your attendance as soon as possible to secure your spot.
What if I’m running late to class?
We have a 5-minute late policy. After this time, you may not be able to join the class for safety reasons.
